quick thinking helps to save a juror's life
Jim Mahoney, a
judicial specialist II in Black Hawk County, was quick to respond when a juror
suffered a medical emergency during jury selection March 15, 2016.
working the main switchboard area on third floor of the Black Hawk County
Courthouse, Mahoney was alerted of a medical emergency in one of the courtrooms,"
District One Court Administrator Linda Nilges said. "Jim
immediately retrieved an automated external defibrillator from another floor of
the courthouse and provided it to emergency personnel.He also assisted in relocating the other
jurors while emergency personnel assisted the juror. Jim's quick actions were
ultimately instrumental in saving the juror's life."
